The Taliban has announced that they will be throwing a Pride event at the highest rooftop bar in Kabul in an effort to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community.

“We want to show the world that we’re more than just a group of hardline extremists,” said Taliban spokesperson Ahmadullah Muttaqi. “We’re inclusive, too! This isn’t a trick or anything, we promise.”

The event, which is set to take place next month, will feature rainbow flags, drag queen performances, and a special appearance by RuPaul herself.

“We can’t wait to show the world how accepting we are,” said Muttaqi. “We’re even considering changing our flag to include all the colors of the rainbow.”

When asked about their notoriously strict stance on homosexuality, Muttaqi explained that the Taliban has “evolved” on the issue.

“We used to be against it, but now we realize that love is love,” he said. “Plus, we’re always looking for new ways to stick it to the West.”

The announcement of the Pride event has been met with mixed reactions, with some praising the Taliban for their newfound acceptance and others skeptical of their motives.

“I’m not sure I trust the Taliban to be sincere about this,” said local activist Aliyah Zafar. “But hey, maybe they’re turning over a new leaf. We’ll see.”
